This & That with a house on top... long post so grab some popcorn and relax

Time, I've had lots of it to think lately. Not that I haven't been oober busy but that I have been doing things that allow me to multi-task. I seem to typically blog about big events or family get togethers but sometimes the every-day events are just as important to remember. I do have to mention one huge and very exciting thing for Enoch and I though. (drum roll please...) We are officially homeowners! I still have to convince myself I am adult enough to finally have a house of my own. I remember as a little kid thinking to myself that I couldn't even afford the tiles around the bathroom sink so how in the world can my parents afford a house and all that is in it? Somewhere along the road (like a week ago) I was informed of a thing called a mortgage which is a very expensive (anything is expensive to me thanks to my dad teaching me to be frugal) payment each month. Probably each payment pays off one tile at a time since for the next 30 years it will be my sidekick. It's a worthy investment though and I am simply in love with our home (our home...still love to say that).
Why have I had so much time on my hands? Because for the past week I have been painting with Enoch (and his mom and my mom while my dad demolishes the basement for us). To make the home feel more like ours we decided to paint it all again including the outside. I loved painting until I got to the second room and now my back is telling me it isn't so much fun anymore. Tonight will be good though because the painting portion should be complete and the carpet laid Thursday (can't wait to have the smell of new carpet in my house...simply love it!).
Things I love about our home:
- Totally has the feel of living in a little quiet town
- Did I say quiet? Quiet includes the goat next door, the toads ribbiting on the front porch (seriously, I haven't seen toads since I was a little girl), the deer in my backyard hanging out and the peacock and rooster duo across the street. Enoch and I want to get chickens for fresh eggs soon so then we'll hear them too. I love all these sounds!
- The weeping Austrlian pine next to the front porch. It is beautiful!
- Our neighbors! They are so nice. When our neighbor Eddie met us and fount out we had put an offer on the house he started watering and mowing the lawn for us so it didn't die. He's always coming over to check on things and see how we are.
- The fact it was built in 1928! It's old but has quaint charm.
- Enoch will say he loves the 3 car garage and I will say I love we have about half an acre of land.

I love it because it is ours and we can go home and work on projects together then sit back at the end of the day and see what accomplishments we have made. I will post pics soon :)

Memorial Weekend

i

Enoch and I had a great Memorial Weekend. Friday evening we went to his family cabin in Star Valley Wyoming which is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. Everything is so green and my favorite thing to do is lay in bed with the window open and listen to the river running next to the cabin. Despite the rain, we got a lot of yard work done there and then enjoyed some serious R&R. Monday evening we had a BBQ with my family and then visited my grandpa's grave. I miss him so much and wish he and Enoch would have had the chance to meet each other. Heaven knows they would have hit it off immediately and their humor would have just fueled each others fires.

Aniston Prestwich has arrived!

Erica, Kip and Kennedy welcomed beautiful Aniston into the world today. She is absolutely perfect! She was 7 lb. 7 oz. and 18.5 inches long. What an angel. Little Kennedy seemed a little confused as to what the heck was going on, but she was very gentle with Aniston and took advantage of some play time with Enoch. He made sure to give Kennedy lots of attention. I absolutely love my new niece.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day! I am so thankful for all the women in my life but especially my own mother, Grandmothers and Mother-in-law. They are all such great examples to me and I couldn't be more blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful women. I can't help but be so excited to be a mother someday.
Here are some pictures of Enoch's and my Mother's Day celebrations.

Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

My friend Kristin and I had an amazing experience Saturday running in the Race for the Cure. It was so neat to see people of all sorts coming together for such a good cause. What a motivational thing to experience and be a part of. We had a great run and an even better feeling knowing we were Racing for the Cure.

Graduation...He did it!

My sweet boy did it! He graduated from the University of Utah this Friday and what a beautiful day it was. I'm so proud of Enoch and all he's accomplished. I couldn't help but have quite the grin on my face when they announced his name and he received his diploma. He'd waited for this day for a long time so congrats love! Your wife couldn't be more proud of you.

High Heels, Cabo the Fish and the Swine Flu

First things first: I am officially on strike against high heels. They are the absolute worst invention ever and my feet haven't spoken to me in over a week because I've tortured them enough with these dang things (kinda weird that my feet talk to me but whatever).

Secondly: My cute pet fish Cabo died on Sunday and it was a much more sad moment that I thought and probably than it should have been. Pretty sure I'm officially never wanting to buy another fish because they die way too quick and I get too attched to the dumb things.

My third manner of business is this whole Swine Flu thing and take my words for what they are worth but I think it is so extremely blown out of proportion it is ridiculous. I mean come on, thousands and thousands more people have died from the regular flu than from this thing. My personal opinion is that it's the government's way of diverting our attention while they go and screw something else up, hoping we don't notice.
